I am interested in community structure, trophic ecology, and system productivity. I analyze systems and their associated species by quantitative/ qualitative modeling and classic field experimentation. Being a graduate student at Moss Landing Marine Laboratories lends a unique opportunity to study one of the most productive systems in the world: the kelp forests of central California. I aim to identify the biotic and abiotic factors leading to the high productivity of these systems and assess their relative strengths.

More to come soon.

I am currently collaborating with faculty at Stanford and UC Santa Cruz on creating a quantitative model of a local estuary system. We are attempting to model the changes in the community over the past 30 years due to human impacts and the successful reintroduction of apex predators.
